The art of making wine has been around for centuries, as has the art of creating detailed artwork using inlaid tiles known as “Mosaics”. Whilst the principles of winemaking remain somewhat the same, the resulting wines have never been more exciting than they are today. As our understanding of the process has grown, so the quality and diversity of wines has grown too, along with our understanding, fascination and appreciation of these wines. With all the technological advances in the industry, one element has always remained true. The quality of the fruit is a fundamental key to the quality of the wine. It is the challenge of the winemaker to harvest nature’s bounty as its peak, and transform it into wine while maintaining the essence and integrity of its identity, and in doing so creating a delectable expression of varietal, terroir and vintage.
This is the task undertaken by our experienced winemaking team with Shon as caretaker of the fruit and maker of the wines. He brings to this process not only many years of experience, but a passion that is a key element in the foundation and creation of every unique vintage. Maintaining focus and moving forward with production, the Mosaic brand reaches beyond estate boundaries as we seek out some of the unique growers that have the finest quality fruit throughout the region, and we go to enormous lengths to get the best. Our focus is on producing small lot, vineyard designate wines that are the purest reflection of the grapes, the source and the process. Total involvement from bud break to bottling ensures that only wines of the highest caliber are represented by the Mosaic brand.
